Barbara Kettel

Councillor

I moved to Stapleford in 2007 after a career in teaching Mathematics and Psychology to A Level. Latterly I was a Senior Lecturer in Education and Lead Mathematician on the prestigious Teach First Programme training and mentoring top graduates to teach in challenging London Schools. I am married, have two grownup married children and two grandsons. My hobbies include most handicrafts and costuming amateur dramatics. I enjoy reading and foreign travel.

Originally from Leicestershire, I attended Newcastle University and Southlands Teacher Training College, Wimbledon before bringing up my family in Hampshire and Norwich.

Since moving to Cambridgeshire I was instrumental in helping to set up the Cambridge City Foodbank and have served as a Trustee and Distribution Centre Manager since inception. I am also active in supporting community through my membership of Cambridge Community Church.

I am a member of the Steering Group for the Neighbourhood Plan, with particular interest in transport, highways and environment. I am a member of the WI and the Magog Singers.

My reason for standing as a Parish Councillor is to support community life and well-being and promote sustainable policies.
