Cambridge South Train Station public consultation

Cambridge South station
We first spoke to you about our proposals for a new station south of Cambridge in January 2020 as part of the first round of public consultation. Since then, we have engaged with businesses and stakeholders and taken on board consultation feedback that has helped us to select a location for the new station.

All the feedback has informed the selection of a location closest to Addenbrooke’s Bridge which carries the Guided Busway as our preferred station site (known as the northern option in the first round of consultation).

The northern option was favoured by the majority of stakeholders and connects most directly into the heart of the established Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

The new station will improve connectivity across Cambridgeshire and provide more sustainable travel options for patients, visitors and employees when travelling to and from the Biomedical Campus. Improving connectivity to the rail network will support growth by improving access to a growing area of high-quality employment and give people travelling to/from South Cambridgeshire and beyond greater choice of where they can travel to/from.
Your feedback is critical
We are extremely proud of what has been achieved since the location was selected and want to share these developments with you.

From Monday 19 October, we will begin our second round of consultation on our proposals to provide the new station and the necessary enhancements to maintain performance of train services for passengers.

Although we are unable to hold public exhibition events at the moment, we have been working hard to put in place ways for you to contact the project team and provide us with your feedback.

From 19 October when you visit www.networkrail.co.uk/cambridge-south-station you will find a link to our dedicated consultation webpage where you can find details of timings and dates for our dedicated consultation hotline and online live chat facility, as well as our consultation booklet, Frequently Asked Questions, Stakeholder Information Pack and numerous proposed drawings.
