UK Power Networks: Haverhill Road Closure from 12 August 2024

From UK Power Networks:

UK Power Networks maintain the electrical network throughout the East of England.  We are currently in progress of an electricity infrastructure upgrade project that has been occurring throughout Cambridge linking our Fulbourn Grid site to the substation in Sawston. The aim of this project is to upgrade the network to ensure that it is capable to meet the existing electrical needs of Cambridge as well meet future demand and ensure future resilience.

The next stage of our works will be taking place on Haverhill Road, Stapleford as of 12 August and expected to take 10 weeks to complete. In order to perform these works safely, Haverhill Road will be closed for this duration from Babraham Road to Cog Magog Way. Working hours will be 0800 to 1700 and our works should have no impact on local residents and businesses. The works being performed involves opening joint bays and pulling a new electricity cable through previously laid pipework before connecting to the current electricity network. Access for residents and businesses on Haverhill Road will be maintained at all times.

In preparation for these works, we have sent out communications to residents in the area and have attached a copy for your convenience. We will also be updating our dedicated Cambridge Website – UKPN – Cambridge (ukpowernetworks-cambridgeshire.co.uk) – advertising the works and the road closure. We have worked closely with the local authority in planning this project and we apologise for any inconvenience caused and will make every effort to minimise the impact on all your residents.
