At a rare Extraordinary Meeting of the Parish Council on Friday 18th June, approval was granted for the purchasing of two items that will help maintain the new MUGA playing surface.
The Council will now purchase a mechanical sweeper. This will remove debris from the surface (including snow) but is also essential in redistributing existing (and new top-up) sand that is integral to how the Matchplay2 surface works.
The council also approved the purchase of a battery operated leaf-blower that also collects ups the leaves so they don’t just blow back onto the courts.
These purchases have meant the Council can avoid very expensive ongoing maintenance contracts with external firms, potentially saving the Parish over £10,000 during the lifetime of the MUGA.
